Developed as part of COUNCIL OF THE NINE, the work translates the Enneagram’s Type One – the Reformer – into a symbolic bee-like figure combining the forms of armour, crown and fortress. Constructed in papier-mâché and layered with painted and collaged details, it explores ideas of discipline, order, virtue and self-protection through an intentionally handmade visual language.
Designed to shift between sculpture and costume, the work can be worn and activated through performance or installed vertically on the wall, where its protruding form and shadow extend the sculpture into the surrounding space.
