Developed as part of COUNCIL OF THE NINE, the work interprets the Enneagram’s Type Four – the Individualist – through the symbolic figure of a butterfly. Structured as an oversized necklace or amulet, its symmetrical arrangement balances geometric forms, patterned surfaces and knotted rope.
Drawing loosely on ritual ornaments, prayer beads and shamanic objects, the work considers the Individualist’s search for distinction and symbolic meaning: how ordinary experiences can become charged with personal significance through imagination and interpretation. Designed for both wall display and performance, the sculpture can also be worn on the body.
